So, here we are once again, meeting in the freezer just to cool off.
They say we might hit 90 degrees. I guess I shouldn't be concerned. It happens every year. It just seems that the older I get, the earlier it comes. I remember, as a child, walking to the store in July to get a Freeze from Circle K and it didn't bother me. Now it bothers me to drive to Circle K in March.
Having had our AC on since Feb, and having just turned it off in Nov.. well, it makes for a fun year. I have learned alot about AC in the past fifteen years or so. Things that many people may not think about. A few years ago, ours was just not cooling the house, and what did the serviceman say? Well, it's only built to cool 30 degrees, maybe 35 at the max. That seems reasonable, until you think that if it is 117 degrees, which it was at the time, then it will only cool you down to 87, 82 max.. um.. still pretty warm.
So, as I approach another possible day of heat. I would like to share some past years of Arizona Weather with you. I have always loved weather, storms, lightning, rain, whatever I could get. I have always tried to be where the weather was, to try to see it, feel it, and photograph it. I am a mom, who once drove TO a hail storm, after seeing a bullitin on the TV, just so my kids could see what Hail was.
Here you will find snow on Easter, the hottest July on record, dust storms that seem too crazy to be real, lightning like no other, rain so fast it only wets one side of a tree, and a storm that blew a trampoline over a fence and landed in the road in front of our van. Also, on August 28th of last year, we had a lightning storm that scared the heck out of our twenty three year old son. He has seen sci-fi movies, he knew it was the end of the world. That video is found on the last link.
For general Videos of a Haboob, street flooding rain, snow in March and such, the videos are on the front page of
The Sci-fi lightning video can be found here.
I am so looking forward to another year of wonderful weather.
